My time was beyond awful on this otherwise nice wod. I wasn't dying for breath or anything like that, just no energy. Must still be recovering. Wod was rx with one little alteration. My callous started to rip on round 15, so instead of pullups, I opted to sub slamballs. They are new for our gym and I hadn't used them yet. Think that they will be pretty fun when I have some oompf in my step.

I was not even close to rx weights this time. The reduced weights were heavy enough today. I will make a comeback, albeit slowly, but it will happen. Very happy to say that Brian gave me kudos on my squat clean n jerks, a first for me. In general, my cleans suck. Maybe it was due to the fact that my muscles are still recovering and I had to focus more to make it happen???? Regardless, a big smile:-)

Yep, pretty sick of being sick!

If this is how 2011 is going to roll out, I am hitting my fast-forward button. Spent last week at home sick again! Trust me, you do not want the details. Needless to say, I lost about 6 pounds overnight and have only been eating solid foods again for a few days. So, going back into the gym today was a test to see how I was feeling and what I could tolerate. The workout should have taken a lot less time, but as expected after last week, I was not 100% and my body tired out rather quickly.

Dumbbells anyone?

Dumbbells don't come up often, so there is always a memory lapse in the movements with them verses a bar. More balance and coordination involved. Good to shake it up a bit! BTW, it seems like my cleans are possibly half way decent with dumbbells. Interesting . . .

Sunday, Feb. 13th

Kithe, my oldest son (age 9) and I went for a morning run trying to capitalize on the sun shining. We are having unusual warm weather now, about 40 degrees. I have to say that this was so much fun for many reasons, but mainly just seeing my son having oodles of fun running through every puddle that he could find. Unfortunately, we had to run/walk due to lots and lots of icy patches. Needless to say, he was soaking wet from his knees down with toes, but loved every minute of it. Wish I would have had a camera with . . .

time 18:53 Pullups were groovy. The ring pushups sucked and I had to transition to regular ones about halfway. Banded HSPU. Looked easier than it was. Worked out with Loic and of course, he kicked my butt. Fun regardless!

time 11:10 3 rnds This was truly my first cardio wod in almost two months. Throat was at newborn vampire stage by end of round three, thus ending my wod. It's a start. My code word for throat issues is now going to be Victoria. Being the Twilight fan that I am, it fits as she is totally a bizzo like my current health issues.

Hello again . . .

Well, what to do after a long weekend of pain killers and muscle relaxers? Nope, not backquats quite yet and I will say that my Doctor. will be very disappointed in me when I do not give up my favorite lifts. Sorry Doc. I Feel pretty good so far. Just did some stretching Tuesday and went for a run on the treadmill today. Yuck is all I can say to that! Treadmills are up there with some of my least favorite things like bugs, coconut and arrogant men (sorry guys!). Ran about a mile and a half before I was successfully doing a great impersonation of Darth Vader. Seriously, why does it take two months to get into a ENT Doctor? Anyhow, will start with a body weight wod tomorrow and keep plucking away. Wasn't it the slow and steady snail that won the race anyway?

Lesson Learned!

Sometimes I wonder why I do the things I do. Is it the drive to prove that I can (even though I shouldn't) or to see how far my body can go before it says enough is enough. Maybe it's just plain old stupidity. Yep, that's probably it. So, I should explain myself. Went into the weekend feeling good, but knowing that my lower back was out. Slept in a hotel bed and woke up barely moving. Went to my chiropractor Monday morning and chilled the rest of the day. Should have stayed away from lifting today, but no, had to go and do. Started off fine with some frontsquats. Wasn't truly feeling the love there so switched to backsquats. That felt much better until my second rep at 165#. Should have stopped then, but again no. Went for that third rep and really regret it now. Left leg it totally numb and back is ok (as long as I don't move). Now I am sitting here, frustrated at myself and my body for not cooperating the way that they should. Will have to give the heavy lifting a break and try cardio again. Hopefully the throat issues will play to my favor. I do not want to "sit" this game out.
